Immigrant Refugee Proudly Employed - N.I.

Hello, I'm Nuriat. Before coming to WorkBC, I was unemployed and had been looking for a job for two months. As an immigrant and refugee, I faced many challenges. I did not have Canadian work experience, I had a limited network, and my resume needed improvement.

I heard that WorkBC could help me find a job, so I decided to try it. I attended different workshops through my employment counsellor. These workshops helped me a lot. I learned how to build a better resume, how to do job interviews, how to search for jobs, and important work-life skills. These skills were very helpful for me to land my first job.

Although I had a strong accounting and office background in my home country, I realized I needed to start from scratch in Canada. The workshops at WorkBC helped me gain confidence. I visited one specific employer about four times and stayed motivated. Finally, I got my first job as an Aircraft Groomer (cleaning position).

Today, I am proud to say that I am employed. I feel proud of myself and my motivation to not give up until I was accepted and offered a job. WorkBC Guildford has been a pathway for me to land my first job, and I am especially grateful to my employment counsellor who was very supportive. She always motivated me and gave me practical advice. She believed in me, and that made a big difference.

For anyone struggling to find a job, I advise you to consult WorkBC. Their support can help you succeed. Big thanks to WorkBC for helping me and everyone who comes their way.
