School Bus Driver

I am Lee, single father of a grown-up child. I came to Canada from China a few years back. I moved to BC from Regina, Saskatchewan in 2022. I worked in various entry-level jobs in Regina like baker, pizza delivery, and catering server. I obtained my Class 1 driver’s license in 2020. I worked as a long-haul truck driver for a couple of months but, lost my job due to Co-vid.

I came to WorkBC Centre Guildford late in 2022, while I was on Employment Insurance for 4 months. I was now looking for a job with extended benefits.

At WorkBC, I received help in reconfirming my job goal based on the job market condition, job strengths, and my expectation of the work environment. I participated in the job search workshop and received help in resume updating, interview preparation, and job search strategies. My case manager and my job coach worked closely with me to focus on school bus driver and transit bus work.

Within two months, I successfully landed a school bus driver job with a school district in the Lower Mainland.

The support provided since I arrived was exceptional; great professionals throughout my process. I can’t be more grateful! I am very happy and thankful of the service I’ve received from WorkBC Centre Guildford.
