Hi everyone, I am Alvin,

I was looking for work since a very long time but due to my disability, I was unable to find any suitable job. I then registered for WorkBC Surrey Newton's services where I met my vocational counselor, Komal, who helped and guided through the process.

Through WorkBC I was able to get my Specialized Assessment done which kind of gave me a more realistic picture of my strengths and barriers. To strengthen my skills, My counsellor registered me for the Amplify Program, which was very helpful and the facilitator was supportive to my needs. My cohort team was supportive as well.

Due to my limitations, customized employment services path was mutually agreed. I was placed at Superstore in South Surrey where I did stocking, shelving and organizing pallets. It was very encouraging for me to be at a workplace. It boosted my self esteem and confidence.

I am very grateful to WorkBC Newton for their support in preparing me for a job and providing ongoing support after placement as well. I would like to thank Komal for her dedication and commitment to be my side in this job search process.
